How do I get rid of black mold spots from my shower ceiling?

There were brownish mold spots on my shower ceiling and I used a mixture of bleach and water to remove them. Everything seemed fine but then the next morning, three little black spots appeared. I applied bleach to them, but they are not going away. I also tried vinegar and it was ineffective. Does anyone have any suggestions and/or know of any products that are effective? Thanks!

Bicarbonate soda?

Use Lysol mold and mildew remover. I used it to remove mold from my bathroom. I sprayed and 15 minutes later it was nice and clean, no trace whatsoever.References :

Hi,you need to find the source of the problem. It is either condensation or you may have a leak.

First check that you don't have a roof leak that is getting the ceiling wet, if that is not the case then you need better ventilation in your bathroom, assuming you have central air lookinto putting a return in there and a vent…you can apply Kilz (primer paint) over the mold to cover it up….then repaint…but you need to fix the root cause too.References : had same problem

it might be that you ceiling is stained. The mold might have been there too long. Depending on the material of your ceiling would depend on the solution. But i dont think anything will remove it if bleach cant.

Cleaning it is ineffective. You'll have to repaint using a primer such as Kilz. When you shower, you should also run your bath fan to remove as much steam as you can.References :

you need to purchase a chemical specifically for mold. I would also buy a paint called "Kilz" that stops mold, and prevents it from coming back.

Home Depot has professional products for mold removal. My dad had a leak in his roof that he didn’t find out about for several months (it was in the top of the storage closet)

We purchased professional mold removal products at Home Depot (can’t remember the name) You’ll find it in the Paint Department
    Good Luck

you want to use bleach and water to kill the mold. This step will lighten the mold color significantly. If you want the problem to stop forever, use Gripper primer available at Home Depot. This primer allows you to paint a black wall white with one coat of paint. You might see a little color through the primer, but the sealer is clear so it is still going to work. Then coat the primer with BEHR paint, (Kitchen and Bath paint) It is resistant to the moisture and guarantees no mold for life, Did this in my restroom and it has been perfect for years….

You need to repaint the bathroom ceiling in an anti-mold emulsion. It might also be a good idea to install a exhaust fan to get rid of some of the damp air and keep air circulating in the room. Keep the door open after you’ve finished in the bathroom to help dry it out and remove the damp air. The mold could have spores deep in the cracks of the painted ceiling which grow back when conditions are right. Dry walls are it’s worst enemy. Hope this has helped. Be careful of mold, it can be very unhealthy for you and your family.

Use Kilz paint it will kill the mold. Be sure and get the original one. They now make several types. Cover the entire ceiling and should prevent it from coming back. They also make it in a spray paint can but again make sure it says that it will kill mold.

Bleach does not kill mold!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It bleaches it and eliminates competition so it can grow back better. There are products available with a combination of sodium hypochlorite and hydrogen peroxide that will actually kill mold. Go to http://www.normipro.org. You also need to take care of the reason it grew there in the first place.

Bleach actually will remove the topical area of the mold and mildew, but since the black mold still has a source of food (The Ceiling) it continue to grow.

In most mold situations you will need a mold cleaner and also a mold blocker. Basically you need a product that can encapsulate the mold so it does not have any food source thus preventing future growth. Try Safe Shield and Molderizer at http://www.propertyperfections.net they have organic mold cleaning solutions that are used by mold remediation companies, and I guarantee your mold problem will not come back. The product seals the area to prevent black mold from coming back and the solution is signed and certified by in house chemist with an MSDS sheet.
